I went on an adventure just a couple weeks ago- it was fun, a little scary and also inspiring. Let me tell you about it.
I actually had a hard time deciding what I wanted to do. I toyed with the idea of going to bingo or Frederick MD- but for some reason neither of these seemed to have the soul feeding adventure that I had been craving since my adventure in Antietam.
I love architecture and I love libraries. So I combined the two and decided to go to on a library adventure. Boonsboro has a very pretty library and most importantly, lots of books!
As I got started I noticed that yes, I had gas in the Subaru, but not as much as I would like. I was so excited to get going that I decided to hold off on getting gas because certainly I could easily find a gas station along the way. I made my way through beautiful Shepherdstown WV before heading into Maryland. I noticed that I was getting dangerously close to the E - and no gas stations to be found. Just as I was just starting to officially freak out, I came to this ----
Gas or no gas I was very happy to be at my destination!
I particularly liked this library because not only was there a library to explore but there was also a mini park with a walking trail! However, since the temps were only in the low 40's I decided to save that for another day. Here's my view as I made my way to the front door.
It's a small library, much smaller that what I'm used to with Handley or Bowman, but it is so pretty inside. Cozy with a fireplace and comfy chairs. I could have spent hours there!
Lots of windows and natural light, high ceilings with rafters. This is a picture from the front corner looking back.
After checking out the building I began to look at the books they offer. I was drawn almost immediately to this book-- it seemed to jump off the shelf at me.
This is a book about a woman who faced her fears and had many adventures while conquering those fears. I wanted to stay and read that whole book- but I doubt they would let me stay. Unfortunately, this book is not offered in my library here at home. I am planning on buying this book for myself for Mother's Day and then will donate it to my library.
I read the first two pages and knew I need to read it. My library also needs this book so that other women who may have forgotten about their own pleasures and sense of adventure can find inspiration to start taking care of themselves. I'm so excited to get it.
After spending time there I decided to get going, because, really I still needed to get that gas......
There was a lady probably in her early 60's in the parking lot. She nicely told me that gas stations were waiting for me just a few miles away on the left. Woooooo! I was so happy to indeed see that gas station-- after filling up I could get on with more fun things like exploring the little Main St. of Boonsboro. My first stop was this.......
A fun little shop of all types of eclectic fashions and home decor. I saw a couple little cute things but nothing that I really needed or wanted.
What I really enjoyed was this bookstore......
Again, a fun little store- I asked the clerk if she had the book I found at the library, but unfortunately no, she did not. It was fun to look but again I walked out empty handed. I continued to explore the streets and rode on down the road hoping to hit Hagerstown for a little quick stop at the mall- but then another scary thing happened.....
My check engine light came on!
Oh come on! I got gas! I was ready to see the sights on the way to Hagerstown but I get nervous when that light comes on- so instead I checked out this antique and collectible joint.
It was OK. I was starting to get snacky and with no luck finding a nice little snack shop in Boonsboro, I was thinking more about a snack than the things on the shelves. It was average antique/collectible stuff. Nothing really special -- and I don't think I'll go out of my way to go back.
When I left there I stopped at a Dollar General and got some chocolate covered raisins and some Pringles. I snacked on both on my relaxing ride back home.
It was a fun day. Not a crazy adventure, but it was nice to have a slow relaxing day of exploring.
I'm thinking about next month already-- I've got an idea but I'll see if I change my mind ;)
Until Next Time.
